What is Emily Alter about?

Writing headings in third person feels weird.
That said, I’m just a baby.
Okay, no. I’m a social psychologist and a licensed sex therapist who started writing fanfic when I was still too young to know that’s what I was doing. Writing has always been the way I make sense of the world around me, it’s how I process and build a better reality. And, because I’m a masochist, I figure I might as well share it with all of you.

  • Kink

    I stumbled into the world of kink pretty much as soon as it was legal for me to do so. I’ve been active in a bunch of different communities since, as a puppy, a brat, a masochist, a Little… And so that’s what I write.

  • Queerness

    I didn’t always identify as queer, but it’s the label that makes the most sense. It’s a political statement, more than just who I’m attracted to, or what my relationship with my body looks like. (This is where I plug my pronouns, too: she/he/they).

  • Community

    Can you tell I’m tired of individualism? And capitalism? And all the things that pull us away from a true sense of community. Well… not in my books.
